In 2022, Clemson University Press launched the SCALE Imprint in collaboration with PASCAL to publish professional quality Open Educational Resources (OER) for South Carolina. Named after PASCAL’s affordable learning program, SCALE (South Carolina Affordable Learning), the imprint offers free publishing, promotion, and distribution of openly licensed undergraduate-level textbooks authored by faculty from any PASCAL institution.

Join us for an insightful session to learn about the innovative model and services provided by the SCALE Imprint. Learn about OER works that have been published by the Imprint and discover how you can contribute to this transformative project by publishing and promoting your textbook through our platform.

This webinar will equip you with:

  • A comprehensive overview of the SCALE Imprint model and its benefits for faculty authors.
  • Insights into the publishing process and editorial services available.
  • Practical tips on developing and submitting a successful textbook proposal.

 Presenters:

  • Alison Mero, Director, Clemson University Press, Clemson University
  • Yang Wu, Open Resources Librarian, Clemson University

Are you interested in OER but not sure where to start? In this webinar you'll learn how OER can benefit both faculty and students, how to evaluate resources, and where these materials can be found.

OER can give you the freedom to include the material you believe is most important for your students to know and understand.  It also provides your students with the ability to have the textbook and other course materials on day one of the class, making sure that no one is trying to play catch-up once their financial aid has arrived.

Attendees will have the opportunity to review a textbook that is in the Open Textbook Library. If you choose to write a review, you will receive an official thank you letter from PASCAL for your tenure file.

Presenters:

  • Ariana Baker, Scholarly Engagement Librarian, Coastal Carolina University
  • Jessica Cerny, Public Services Librarian, Trident Technical College
